Use a ladder stabilizer to place the ladder against the roof or siding of the home. Slowly raise the ladder with crate attached to the roof just above the gutter. However and this is something i hope you don t find out firsthand it isn t the right ladder for getting on the roof. A 24 extension ladder is the correct choice for most of these kinds of projects. Leaning the ladder against the gutters may do great damage to the gutter because of pressure created by the combined weight of you and the ladder. Put the protector on the gutter and now you can lean your ladder on it without worrying about the bending of the gutter.
